Ron Mau resides in Cullowhee, NC, and is a current Village of Forest Hills council member and serves on The Steering Committee for the Jackson County Comprehensive Plan and Transportation Plan. Ron ‘s wife, Rochelle, teaches 8th grade math at Fairview and has taught at Smoky Mountain High School in the past. Ron and Rochelle have two sons, Ronnie and Rusty, who both graduated from Smoky Mountain.
An associate professor and department chair for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Worldwide Campus, Mau holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering as well as an MBA and a Ph.D. in finance. Ron previously served as a faculty member at Western Carolina University where he earned tenure. His professional experience prior to working at WCU was working as a geotechnical engineer for over 10 years. In this role, he worked on a wide range of projects including single-family residential development projects, industrial projects, commercial projects and various types of public works projects.
Ron enjoys golfing, hiking with Rochelle in our beautiful mountains, working out at the Cullowhee recreation center, and spending time with friends and family.
